The Capital Wheel

The U.S. National Harbor is next toWashington D.C. It is on the historic Potomac River. Recently, a new attraction opened at the National Harbor. It is a 55-meter-tall Ferris wheel called the Capital Wheel. The Capital Wheel has many climate-controlled cars,so people can ride it comfortably at anytime of year. From these cars, people can see famous places like the WhiteHouse and the U.S. Capital building.

George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr.designed the first Ferris wheel. Hemade it in 1893 for the Chicago World’sFair. The U.S. wanted to makesomething big like the famous attractionat the 1889 Paris World’s Fair - the EiffelTower. The Capital Wheel is a littlesmaller than the first Ferris wheel.However, it continues a unique U.S.tradition. The Capital Wheel offersexciting rides. It also plays music andhas a special light show.
