Some people thinking learning languages is difficult. Others consider it an unnecessary goal. However, between 60 and 75 percent of the world’s population speaks at least two languages. English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Hindi are considered “super” languages. They are spoken by the largest numbers of people world wide. There are many benefits to being bilingual. The first benefit is the ability to communicate with people from other countries and cultures.

There are also long-term benefits. People who speak more than one language usually recover more quickly from a stroke. Additionally, bilingual individuals generally are more compassionate to others. This is because they have learned to balance different ways of thinking and communicating. Further more, bilingual people are better at multitasking, problem-solving and mental flexibility. Ultimately, learning another language even helps you understand your own language and culture more completely.
