Carnegie Mellon University is famous. It is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This university is a leader in robotics. It is going to do an experiment with Uber taxis. Uber has a new plan. They want to use robot cars. The robot cars will pickup customers and take them to adestination. This experiment will start at the end of September. Uber users in Pittsburgh will be picked up by anautonomous car.
The car will be equipped with advanced technology. The technology will include lasers, radars, cameras and GPS systems. The car will have a “safety driver.” The “safety driver” is a person.They will drive when necessary. Uberwants to replace human drivers. They want to replace them with robots. This will decrease prices. In the future it will be cheaper to use Uber than your own car.
