Look at the letters on your keyboard. Why is it set up like that? This standard setup is known as the QWERTY layout. This is because the top row of letters is in that order. This setup is in many versions of keyboards. You can find this setup in 19th century type writers. You can find this setup in today’s smartphones. There are also other styles of keyboard layouts. First, there isthe Dvorak keyboard.

The middle row has 70% of the most commonly used letters. Second is the Colemak. The strongest fingers reachthe most commonly used letters. The Colemak’s setup is only 17 letters different from the QWERTY keyboard. Finally, there is the Maltron keyboard. It splits the keyboard in two. The letters are set up like a numeric keypad. It puts the letter “E” where the left thumb goes. This is the most different keyboard.
