Lighting the Way

Physicists made a new discovery. The physicists are from the Imperial College of London in the UK. They discovered a new form of light. This was the first time they saw this light. They created it by combining photons (light particles) and electrons. Vincenzo Giannini is one ofthe project’s physicists. He believes the discovery will change the way we think of light. The team believes it will help us develop better quantum computers. The new form of light behaved in interestingways.

The physicists recorded these behaviors. The new particle has properties of both photons and electrons. Light particles move in astraight line. But the new particle followsthe electron’s path on material surfaces. Electrons stop moving when they encounter poor conductors. But the new particle continues moving because of the photon’s properties. The physicists want to continue testing the new particle.
