Dolphins are mammals. This means the mothers nurse the babies with milk. Dolphins like to eat fish and squid when they get older. Dolphins live in groupsof 10 or 12. The group is called a pod.They can swim up to 260 meters in the ocean. They can stay under the waterfor 15 minutes. Dolphins use a blowholeon top of their heads to breathe. Theycannot breathe under water.
There are 32 different kinds of ocean dolphins. There are four kinds of riverdolphins. The most well-known dolphinis the bottlenose. The largest dolphin iscalled the killer whale. Dolphins talkwith each other by clicking, whistlingand making other sounds. They arefriendly and have very good eyesightand hearing. They use sound waves tofind where objects are.
